US: Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has appointed Brett Orlando as regional director of operations for the brand’s three South Florida hotels.

Orlando has more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, and will oversee the day-to-day operations of the 411-room EPIC in downtown Miami, 186-room Surfcomber Miami, South Beach, and 113-room Vero Beach Hotel & Spa.

The appointment comes shortly after Orlando returned to Kimpton in October 2012 as EPIC's general manager. Previous to his role as EPIC GM, Orlando was general manager at Kimpton's Palomar in Washington, D.C.

A graduate of Johnson & Wales University's Hospitality Management School, Orlando has also worked as managing director of Gansevoort Miami Beach Hotel, Spa, and Residences; and has also had spells at Soho Grand Hotel, the Tribeca Grand Hotel, The Maritime Hotel, and the Royalton Hotel.

Most recently, the Brooklyn native served as regional director of Florida for Equinox Fitness.
