Greece: Lato Boutique Hotel in Heraklion, Crete, has undergone a major expansion.

The recently completed three-phase project included expansion of the hotel's premises by acquiring the building across the street, adding almost 40 per cent to the hotel's capacity; uniting the two buildings to function as a whole; and reconstruction and redesign of all rooms and restaurants.

The hotel has also implemented "environmentally friendly infrastructure by employing eco friendly policies in order to achieve the highest level of green hotel operations". Some of its main objectives are the optimal use of natural and alternative energy resources and the protection of the environment through proper management of solid and liquid waste.
