Australia: Melbourne developer Will Deague of Art Series Hotels, is planning a 350-room apartment and hotel project in Brisbane.

Deague, who founded the Art Series Hotel Group in 2009, has bought the 10-storey, old Main Roads building on Boundary Road, from the state government for AUS$22 million. The building, which sits on a 9,000 square metre block over two plots, will be converted into apartments and a 100-room hotel, opening in December 2015.

Deague said: "The size of the property will allow us to offer our guests unsurpassable leisure options including a 70-metre long swimming pool, open air cinema, volley ball court and golf driving range. We liked the position of Spring Hill with its proximity to the CBD and Brisbane River and its burgeoning art and cafe culture."

In common with other Art Series Hotel properties, the Brisbane project will be named after a famous Australian artist and will showcase artwork throughout the hotel. It will join The Olsen, The Blackman and The Cullen hotels in Melbourne.
