SilverNeedle aims for 100 properties over the next five years

Thailand: SilverNeedle Hospitality Group is aiming to have 100 properties under management across Asia in its city and luxury boutique hotel concepts.

The Singapore-based company hopes to sign deals to operate eight to 10 properties this year, according to CEO Iqbal Jumabhoy.

Launched 18 months ago by Infosys co-founder Nadathur Raghavan, SilverNeedle has sixdifferent brands in its portfolio: SilverNeedle Collection (Boutique hotels), NEXT, Chifley, Country Comfort, Australis and Sundowner.

Jumabhoy said the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia were among the markets that represent the biggest business opportunities for the company, and it is also looking at China and Mynanmar. SilverNeedle has offices in Singapore, Bangalore, Sydney and Bangkok. Australia is its biggest market with 60 properties under management.

Its boutique concept is a small hotel of 58 rooms or less which "allows guests to enjoy a personal experience with local culture during their visit". Its city hotel concept will focus on business travelers.
