US: The 21c Museum Hotel, due for a year end opening in downtown Cincinnati, has made two hires.

Barbara E. Gurren has been named director of sales and marketing. She has 18 years in the hospitality business, most recently as field director of sales and marketing for Commonwealth Hotels Inc. Gurren is a graduate of Miami University.

Jim Swain is revenue manager. He was previously sales manager of Marriott's RiverCenter property and has degrees from Northern Kentucky University and Thomas Moore College.

The 21c Museum Hotel will be a combination of boutique hotel, contemporary art museum and restaurant. It is modeled after the award-winning 21c Museum Hotel in Louisville.

Located adjacent to the Lois and Richard Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art and across the street from the Aronoff Center for the Arts, 21c Cincinnati says it "looks forward to fostering the ongoing revival of Downtown Cincinnati and strengthening its role as a cultural destination".
