Nadler Hotels' decision to rebrand as The Resident, with a focus on "a more hosted experience", is perhaps an understandable one, given the brand was so intrinsically linked with its founder Robert Nadler, who left the business in January 2018.

The group, with four properties in London and one in Liverpool, is refurbishing all its properties, with work expected to be completed by March 31.

The Resident's new look will focus on "British provenance". Fabrics and furnishings have been sourced from Tom Dixon, Paul Smith with Anglepoise, Alter House and Bute Fabrics on the Isle of Bute.

David Orr, CEO of Resident Hotels Ltd, said: "We are delighted to be launching a new British hotel brand, The Resident. With the ongoing support of the owners and founders, particularly Mactaggart Family and Partners, we are announcing a new hotel brand that truly reflects what our guests appreciate. The Resident emphatically puts the guest at the heart of everything we do, offering a meaningful travel experience where guests can connect with the local neighbourhood and feel like a resident. We look forward, in the near future, to announcing responsible and sustainable growth plans for The Resident."

The Mactaggart Family and Partners, principal owner of the group, has outlined plans to add between 1200 and 1500 rooms to its UK portfolio in the next seven years.

Robert Nadler was an entertaining and engaging presence on the hospitality scene, and it wouldn't be a major surprise to see him back in the industry in some form before long.
