Tokyo is next destination for Marriott’s Edition brand

Japan: Marriott International and Ian Schrager have announced the signing of agreements for two Edition hotels in Tokyo.

The agreements, with Mori Trust, the largest owner and franchisee of Marriott International hotels in Japan, are for The Tokyo EDITION, Ginza and The Tokyo EDITION, Toranomon, both expected to open in 2020.

"Tokyo serves as the perfect setting for the EDITION brand, presenting the best of the world's cultural and social milieu for travellers who seek exceptional places and experiences."
 
Miwako Date, president and CEO of Mori Trust, added: "We are pleased to introduce the EDITION hotels which has proposed the world's most advanced trends such as new culture and new luxury in major cities of the world to Tokyo's central business district and the major shopping district. I am convinced that from these two EDITION hotels new values of a new era that attract the world's people can be sent to the world at the best timing of 2020 when the Tokyo Olympic Games will be held."

The Tokyo EDITION, Ginza will be a newly built 13-storey standalone property with 80 guestrooms. Located just off Chuo Street, the main shopping street in Ginza, the hotel site affords convenient access to Ginza-Itchome Station, Ginza Station and Tokyo Station, as well as shopping complexes, restaurants and tourist attractions such as Tokyo Imperial Palace. Construction is expected to start in May 2018, with an opening planned for March 2020.
