Italy: Delphina Hotels & Resorts; a collection of eight properties in northern Sardinia, is the first Italian hotel group to use renewable energy across its entire portfolio.

As part of Delphina's We Are Green protocol - a commitment to green energy which allows the hotel group to save 3,536 tonnes of CO2 each year - it is harnessing the power of renewable wind technology.

"We are incredibly proud to be recognised as the first green energy Italian hotel group," said director Libero Muntoni. "Central to the Delphina philosophy is our attention to local hospitality and traditions, healthy life and respect for nature. They are the building blocks of our brand DNA and permeate every element of what we do."

Founders Francesco Muntoni and Salvatore Peru have formed a collection of 12 hotels, two residences, six spas and 23 villas.

AS well as green energy, other eco measures include ecological waste disposal, eco- and bio-friendly spa products, Ecolabel cleaning products, the automatic shutdown of lights and air conditioning in most of the rooms, as well as electric vehicles for in-resort transportation.
