Hotel du Vin partners with UK Wine Awards

UK: Hotel du Vin is has announced it is partnering with the inaugural UK Wine Awards. to celebrate the achievements of UK wine producers.

Hotel du Vin says English and Welsh wine has enjoyed increasing popularity in recent years and the company has seen growing demand for UK wines across its 17 hotels, as well as stocking an increasing variety of British wines. Across the UK industry, with a record-breaking one million vines are set to be planted this year. In the last ten years, the acreage planted with grapevines has grown by 135 per cent, meaning wine production is one of the fastest growing agricultural sectors in the UK. This year's vine planting will yield another two million bottles of mainly sparkling wine.

In recognition of this, Hotel du Vin will be joining forces with the UK wine industry itself, as well as Country Life and Waitrose, to celebrate the achievements of UK wine producers.

The awards will be led by a line up of wine experts including Susie Barrie MW (leading wine writer and one of the wine experts on BBC's Saturday Kitchen), wine luminary Oz Clarke and leading sommelier and wine writer Hamish Anderson. Producers from all around the country will be pitched against one another and judged over two days, before the Supreme Champion of the UK Wine Awards is announced on 31st May.
