Switzerland: Chedi Andermatt’s Japanese Restaurant awarded one Michelin star

The Chedi Andermatt has announced that its Japanese restaurant has been awarded its first Michelin star.

The Japanese Restaurant serves Japanese cuisine including sashimi, tempura, sushi and teppanyaki. Dishes are prepared in front of guests at the teppan grill. The restaurant seats 46 diners, providing an intimate gastronomic experience. The restaurant also offers the most extensive sake selection in Switzerland.

The Japanese Restaurant is the second Japanese restaurant in Switzerland to receive the award. The acclaimed restaurant already holds 16 GaultMillau points.

Executive Chef Dietmar Sawyere said: "To receive a Michelin star is a very great honour. I would like to dedicate this award to the team, for their commitment and professionalism."

General Manager, Jean-Yves Blatt said: "We are now one of only two Japanese restaurants in Switzerland to be given this accolade and we are truly proud that The Chedi Andermatt's concept has received this recognition."

The Chedi Andermatt, which opened in December 2013, was designed by architect Jean-Michel Gathy. The design and decor provides a fusion of alpine chic and Asian zen.
