US: Choice Hotels confirmed that it is set to launch a sharing economy short-term rental platform.
Three existing vacation rental management companies have signed up to Choice’s Vacation Rentals website, and Choice CEO Steve Joyce said “a pipeline of a lot of rental companies” are set to join them.
The rentals will be managed via SkyTouch technology, a cloud-based property management system, which Choice has significantly invested in over the past year.
Joyce said SkyTouch will allow the rental management companies to “run their entire business in a professional, efficient manner.”
Guests won’t be interacting with Choice directly but with the vacation rental companies that Choice has partnered with. Unlike Airbnb, individual owners will not be allowed t list their properties.
Choice’s rentals partners will rent out “entire homes, resort units, condos, apartments, cabins or villas”.
Guests who book through Choice’s vacation rental site will earn Choice Privileges points.
