Sleep, Europe's hotel design and development event, returns this month, from 21st to 22nd November at the Business Design Centre in London, comprising an exhibition, conference, the Sleep Set concept installations and Spaces, where visitors will be able to explore products in specially designed hotel environments. Over the two days visitors will discover the latest products from leading UK and global contract brands, and gain insight, guidance and inspiration from some of the leading names in global hospitality.

Every year, a business-critical theme relevant to hotel owners, operators, and suppliers is chosen, and this year Sleep will explore "Loyalty: Lessons in Love". In a unique collaboration with the global leader in customer experience, satisfaction and loyalty research, Ipsos Loyalty, the event will consider how hotels can create experiences that connect with customers emotionally and create enduring memories, which mean that guests will want to return and share their positive experiences with others.

Reflecting on the theme, Joel Butler, brand director of Sleep, said: "Sleep is a community of boundary-pushing innovators and design philosophers who are intuitively aware of how spaces affect human nature. Sleep 2017's theme plays to this strength. Whether family, friends, colleagues, or hotel guests, the qualities of loyalty and love speak to every person's desire to feel valued. At this year's event, visitors will learn how design can spark feelings of wellbeing and love, which in turn creates cherished experiences that guests seek to recapture."

The Exhibition 
More than 150 exhibitors will be showcasing their newest products and most renowned collections, across a wide range of categories, including bathrooms, lighting, technology, wallcoverings and outdoor environments.

With more than 30 per cent of exhibitors coming from Italy, France, Germany, Portugal, Denmark, Holland and the USA, amongst others, this year's event is more international than ever before, and one third of exhibitors are returning brands, including names such as Loloey, Perrin & Rowe and Hamilton Conte. Once again, GROHE, Sleep's key partner since its inception, will be headlining as Founder Sponsor, and displaying its newest kitchen and bath product innovations, including the Ceramics and Colours collections. Loyalty in action!

Among Sleep's 2017 newcomers are classic British brand, ercol, which has been steadily turning its attention to the hospitality sector, Czech Republic lighting designer, Sans Souci, and French bathroom brand, THG Paris. Such is the status of Sleep that many companies, both the old-hands and the debutants, use Sleep as their platform to launch new collections. This year, expect to find the first-ever carpet collection by Kelly Hoppen MBE, designed and manufactured in collaboration with Brintons, two new spectacular technology-enabled glass lighting fixtures from Sans Souci, and seven new ranges from Designers Guild.

Other highlights include Ligne Roset, at Sleep for the first time, and showing four design-led ranges targeted at the hospitality industry; British lighting brand, Chelsom, who will be previewing a selection of standout pieces from its new collection; and Bang & Olufsen, who will be showcasing a number of innovations, including BeoSound Shape, a fully scalable and modular wireless audio system designed with acoustics in mind and therefore ideal for environments such as hotel lobbies and restaurants.

Sleep Conference 
Sleep's free-to-attend Conference offers a combination of panel discussions exploring emerging topics in the hotel design and development sector, the opportunity to hear from some of the industry's most acclaimed designers, and Roundtable conversations with leaders and influencers.

Celebrated Parisian interior architect Tristan Auer will open the conference with "Revival of a Myth", where he will detail his approach to returning historic properties to their original splendour. Day two kicks off with architect Eero Koivisto, co-founder of Stockholm design practice, Claesson Koivisto Rune, focusing on projects such as Hotel Zander K and Hotel Bergen Børs, to illustrate how architecture and design can work harmoniously to create spaces with abstracted and honest Scandinavian beauty.

Other conference highlights include the "Development and Investment" session, where key opinion leaders, Eric Jafari, co-founder and creator of Locke Hotels and Simon Willis of Principal Hotel Group, will join Jamie Chappell, global business director of Horwath HTL, to discuss the prospects for global hotel development. The "Fast Food" session, with Bob Puccini of Puccini Group, designer and chef Ido Garini from Studio Appétit, and Simon Rawlings from David Collins Studio, will discuss new dining concepts and sourcing locally, while "Design Beyond Space…" will look at how hotel design extends beyond the physical space.

The ever-popular end-of-day Development Roundtables will also be returning this year, to conclude the conference on day one. Hosted by Daniel Englender, managing director of Benjamin West, these sessions offer the chance to interact with top professionals from the hotel development, owner, investor and operator sectors. Table hosts will include Blanche Van Berckel from Fairquest and Partners, Daniel Johannsen of Campbell Gray Hotels, Florian Kollenz from 25hours, and CBRE Hotels' Jane Lees.

The Sleep Set
Structured as a competition, the Sleep Set sees leading international design practices translate the loyalty theme into physical hospitality environments. This year the global reach and cross-disciplinary portfolios of the four participants is assured to bring a wide spectrum of cultural, geographic and industry perspectives to the mix. They are London-based MKV Design, Stonehill Taylor from New York, Italian company, Il Prisma, and 1508 London. The winner will be announced at lunchtime on Day Two.

Sleep's cross-cultural approach is also reflected in this year's Sleeper Bar, which is being created by Moscow-based design and architecture Studio, Sundukovy Sisters, whose work in Moscow and other continental capitals has been acclaimed for its bold, genuine and ironic flair.

Spaces
Introduced in 2016, the 19 showcases will see suppliers such as 10DEKA, Bushboard, Crosswater, Fabio Alemanno, Roca UK, CaberlonCaroppi and YPRT, create inspiring installations ranging from bathrooms to wet rooms, lobbies and outdoor spaces. The stands offer design inspiration for indoor and outdoor environments by allowing visitors to experience collections in specially created hotel settings.

Sleep will be held at the Business Design Centre from 10am-8.30pm on Tuesday 21st November and from 10am-6pm on Wednesday 22nd November.
